Sending E-Mails While on PrivacyAbroad VPN

If you are facing difficulties sending e-mails while being connected to the PrivacyAbroad VPN, this may be because you need to manually white list the SMTP servers you are using.

STEP 1:  First, enable the following the ports in your email manager then try to send emails.  Now try to send an email.  If you still are unable to send your email, you will need to proceed to step 2 to white list your servers.

Secure SMTP (SSMTP) - port 465

Secure IMAP (IMAP4-SSL) - port 585

IMAP4 over SSL (IMAPS) - port 993

Secure POP3 (SSL-POP) - port 995

STEP 2:  A lot of mail services are already whitelisted. In such case you would only require using the mailserver's IP address instead of its hostname. This will ensure that you are utilizing a specific e-mail server (one that has been whitelisted) instead of a random one.
Note: In some cases it is not required to whitelist the SMTP server and changing the port from 25 to 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 in your e-mail client would do the trick. This should also be done when you are still unable to send mails after whitelisting SMTP server.

How to Change Your E-Mail Client Settings in Windows

MS Outlook

Click Tools and choose Email Accounts.

Now click Next.

Here, you can change the SMTP server name. A specific IP of SMTP server can be used that is being whitelisted, specifically when the e-mail service has multiple servers.  In order to change the SMTP port, click "More Settings"

Please be sure that  "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" in the "Outgoing server" tab is checked because most e-mail services require this.  Now select  "Advanced"  tab.  Change the Outgoing server port number to 25, 26, 587, 465 to enable the SSL encryption.
